Lisa Larrabee |
Lisa is passionate about teaching the visual arts. She has years of experience teaching adults to draw or paint in Tucson at Pima Community College (2003 - 2014) and Southwest Visual University of Visual Arts (SUVA) (2014 - 2020). It is an honor to have her join our team of instructors.
We look forward to taking her classes this fall!
Lisa Larrabee is most recognized for her unique figurative paintings that stylistically blur the boundaries between the figure and their environment. Her paintings visually convey the intangible connection between people, nature, and the subconscious. Lisa creates artwork that allows us to slow down and contemplate our relationship with others and the world around us.
Lisa builds an expressive and textured surface using oil and cold wax medium with improvised tools, rollers, and pallet knives before refining her image with traditional oil painting methods.
The effect feels both timeless and contemporary. Specific details come into focus while others are left to be completed in the mind of the viewer. As you can see below, the result is ethereal poetry.
